Exeter Racecourse partners with ELF to launch Festive Gifting Programme

Exeter Racecourse is delighted to announce a new partnership with The Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) for ELF Raceday, taking place on Friday 5th December 2025.

Through this collaboration, ELF and Exeter Racecourse will launch a special gifting programme aimed at bringing joy to children and families supported by the charity during the Festive season.

Frogs come in all shapes and sizes – as these two demonstrate. Paignton Zoo photographer Eleanor Stobbart took this stunning image of a young Thao whipping frog on top of an adult of the same species to mark World Frog Day, on Wednesday 20th March. The species has just bred at Paignton Zoo for the very first time.

Like so many species of exotic frog, this one goes by different names. It’s the Thao whipping frog, Fea’s tree frog, or Fea's flying frog… The one thing we can agree on is the scientific designation, Rhacophorus feae.

John Lewis shoppers in Exeter can hand a huge boost to a cause helping hundreds of suicide bereaved families across Devon.

Pete’s Dragons has been selected as a beneficiary of the Sidwell Street department store’s Community Matters scheme.

The initiative sees a trio of charities nominated to benefit from an overall fund of £3,000 every three months. Customers vote for their preferred cause by placing a green token into boxes located around the store.

Two Devon-based rock and pop choirs have united to produce a single in a bid to raise money for charity.

90 singers from rock and pop choirs DyNaMix, based in Barnstaple, and the Exeter-based Rhythm of Life Choir recently travelled 300 miles to a studio in Swindon to record an original song, When We Stand Together. All proceeds of the single, written and produced by Choir Director Jax Gibbins, will be donated to Alzheimer’s Society.

Exeter School pupils help turn tide on litter

Pupils from Exeter School have been busy tackling the problem of marine litter on our beaches by taking part in a Beach Clean event organised by STC Expeditions – an ethical school expedition company based in Exeter.

The Beach Clean took place on Saturday 9th March 2019 and was organised as part of the Marine Conservation Society’s (MCS) national Beachwatch project. The data will help MCS identify the main sources of litter at Dawlish Warren and keep the issue of the dangers of marine litter high on the local agenda.

West Country house builder Devonshire Homes has announced a re-structure of its senior management team to spearhead the firm’s ambitious five-year growth plan.
