East Devon District Council to progress plans for zero carbon growth

On 10 July at East Devon District Council’s Cabinet meeting, Councillors will consider how clean growth can be achieved in the west end of the district.

Cabinet will meet [LINK] to consider a long-standing plan to achieve zero carbon development in Cranbrook and the surrounding area, including the Exeter and East Devon Enterprise Zone.

The strategy for zero carbon growth has been in place since plans for Cranbrook were first agreed with a district heating network. Now future plans must be considered as a major milestone of 2000 homes in Cranbrook is reached.

A proposal to sell part of a city park to create access for vehicles at a proposed new housing development is set to be ruled out by the City Council.

Exeter Homes Trust had requested that the council sells a section of Bull Meadow Park to create a turning point for cars to access new homes as part of the proposed £9m redevelopment of Fairpark Almshouses.

An animal welfare campaigner who died in the Ethiopian Airlines crash has been awarded a posthumous RSPCA Honours award for her work creating a safer world for animals.

RMBI Care Co. Home Cadogan Court in Exeter has recognised the contribution of its furriest staff member - Molly the dog – by giving her an official job title and certificate.

Staff and residents felt that Labradoodle Molly plays such an important role in the wellbeing of everyone at the Home that the title of ‘Health and Wellbeing Support Officer’ should be bestowed upon her.

Dartmoor National Park Authority elects new chair

Christow resident Pamela Woods has been elected chair of Dartmoor National Park Authority.

Her deputy, farmer Peter Harper, is also from the Teign Valley.

A new website and film designed to provide support and training for those working with former service personnel in communities, has been launched. The website and film has been produced by a group of southwest councils as part of the South West Armed Forces Covenant Project.
