Team FORCE smash it at the 2026 Great West Run

Team FORCE has again pulled out all the stops at this year’s Great West Run.

Nearly 450 people ran either the half marathon or 10K around the streets of Exeter and beyond in Sunday’s sweltering heat to support FORCE Cancer Charity.

Between them they have raised more than £135,000 so far, which will support local people dealing with a cancer diagnosis.

Chloe Richardson, event fundraiser for FORCE, said: “It was a great day and we are astounded by the support and love for FORCE from our runners.

FORCE will have five people taking part in this year’s London Marathon on Sunday April 27 .

Linda Grady, Sarah Moffat, Georgie Pigott, Ben Trigg, and Mark Wadeley-Jones will proudly wear the Team FORCE vest as they line up for start in Greenwich Park as part of a field of 56,000 runners.

They will tackle 26.2 miles around the capital and are on course to raise a fantastic amount of money for FORCE to help support local people affected by cancer.

A groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering women through fitness and wellbeing is set to launch in Exeter on 3rd May 2025.

Nestled within a National Trust Grade II listed property near Broadclyst, Renew Women's Fitness & Wellbeing is a women-only gym and wellbeing centre, designed to create a safe and welcoming space for women of all backgrounds.

Pop-up market proposal for Exeter city centre

Exeter is in line to get a pop-up city centre market on the site of its former bus station.

Members of the city council heard that an entrepreneur had come up with proposals to set up a market on the site off Sidwell Street where the bus station was demolished last year.

The first cohort of graduates from a UK-first programme in psychedelics will be celebrated when Europe’s largest and longest-running conference on psychedelic comes to Devon this Easter.

Exeter care home: supports local charity

Cumberland Grange care home in Exeter recently raised over £300 following on from a successful coffee morning held at the home raising money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, also known as the RNLI.

Volunteers from the RNLI were also present at the coffee morning with their pop-up shop, selling an array of different goodies from cards to diaries and ornaments, with all funds going straight to the charity. Speak George Hislop also attended and held an informative talk on the history of the RNLI which residents and community members found incredibly insightful.
