Women-only gym and wellbeing centre to open in Exeter

A groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering women through fitness and wellbeing is set to launch in Exeter on 3rd May 2025.

Nestled within a National Trust Grade II listed property near Broadclyst, Renew Women's Fitness & Wellbeing is a women-only gym and wellbeing centre, designed to create a safe and welcoming space for women of all backgrounds.

The response has been unexpected. Their Facebook page already has 1,300 followers and 1,100 likes, 800 women have filled out the survey, and over 500 women have joined their mailing list.

In addition to a fully equipped gym, changing rooms (including a private changing cubicle), shower, toilets, and treatment room; the centre will offer a diverse range of classes, including Pilates, Yoga, Cardio, Strength & Conditioning, and running training tailored for all levels.

Members will also have access to one-on-one, pairs, and group health and wellness sessions led by a dedicated team of experienced female trainers.

The focus is on building a strong and supportive community and forging friendships.

“Wellbeing, creativity, community - all under one roof.”

What sets it apart from other gyms and wellbeing centres is the addition of non - fitness related activities such as walks, talks by inspirational women, BBQs, art classes, singing workshops and retreats.

“We believe that every woman deserves a supportive environment that fosters confidence and personal growth,” said Jane Hamilton the owner of the new gym.

“Our partnership with Devon Rape Crisis signifies our commitment to not only empowering women in fitness but also giving back to the community and supporting those in need.”

As part of its mission to uplift women, Renew will be donating £2 of every monthly membership fee directly to Devon Rape Crisis.

Additionally, the gym will offer concessionary memberships for women receiving support from the charity and those currently on its waiting list, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent access to fitness and wellness resources.

The centre reflects a core value of  empowerment, providing women with the tools they need to thrive both physically and mentally.
