Dawlish Gears Up for South West’s Top American Car Show

Cruise down to Cofton Holidays near Dawlish for the annual American Car Show, taking place from Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd June 2025. Over 3,500 visitors are expected to enjoy a weekend packed with classic cars, live music, entertainment, and family fun. More than 200 American vehicles will be on display, including Mustangs, Cadillacs, Chevrolets, Pontiacs, Buicks, and Jeeps.

Budleigh skate park receives £150,000 investment from district council

East Devon District Council is investing £150,000 in renewing Lime Kiln skate park in Budleigh Salterton.

The council worked in conjunction with a local user group to produce a design for a new longer lasting sprayed concrete skate park.

At an initial highly productive consultation meeting, local users of the park advised East Devon and its specialist designer/contractor, Maverick Industries, what they wanted included in their new skate park.

On Saturday 7th September Devon Ramblers celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the founding of Devon Ramblers, part of the Ramblers Charity, with an event on Hookney Tor, Dartmoor. Nine walks were led by Devon’s local Ramblers groups, each taking a different route to walk to Hookney Tor, which is between Moretonhampstead and Widecombe. Starting points for the walks included Hound Tor and Widecombe. South Devon Ramblers, for example, walked from Widecombe in the Moor to Hookney Tor via the Two Moors Way.

Local artist Leo Jamelli has collaborated with the University of Exeter to create a piece of emotional public artwork to be displayed in City Centre.

The large-scale artwork, created to celebrate carers, will be shown between 8.00pm and Midnight on both 20th and 21st September. It will appear on the historic St Catherine's Almshouse, on the site of the iconic ruin in the Princesshay shopping precinct.

Some of Exeter's most fascinating buildings are set to open their doors to the public free of charge for Heritage Open Days.

Starting on Friday (13 September), Heritage Open Days runs until Sunday 22 September, showcasing many venues that are not usually open to the public or otherwise charge an entry fee.

New research has revealed that the South West of England is in favour of rejecting the supermarket in favour of doing their shopping at local produce providers.

Research from AO.com into the attitudes of the UK around local produce found that 77% of people in our region believe that they should be shopping locally, with respondents citing the fact that it’s better for the local economy, the environment and quite simply, the food just tastes nicer!
