Marks & Spencer Exebridges has donated truckloads of carrots and parsnips to hungry donkeys this Christmas. In the spirit of seasonal giving, M&S’ generous act was met with delight by staff and donkeys alike at The Donkey Sanctuary’s headquarters in Sidmouth, Devon.

With many people in the process of taking down decorations and returning their homes to a pre-Christmas state, it’s a good time to remember that used candles can be recycled rather than added to landfill.

Candles are very popular during the festivities, gracing tables, sideboards, fireplaces and shelves around the home. But once they reach the end of their useful life, they are usually put into the bin.

The Recycled Candle Company will...

The world is never straightforward. Nothing is intuitive. Take gravity, for instance. Gravity causes things to fall straight down, right? No, it makes them fall toward the center of the Earth, because "down" is relative.

How about this, it would be logical to say that heavy things fall faster than lighter things, right? Wrong. They fall at the same speed, despite what our intuition would tell us.

You see a hyperlink to a website for a Vegas casino online , and intuition tells you not to click it. Well, the world is not so straight forward.

This is doubly true in the...

Insects are eaten in many parts of the world, and if people in countries such as the UK and US could get over the “yuk factor” it would open a “new frontier in food”, experts said.

Insects are a rich source of protein and can be produced using far less land and water – and with a far smaller carbon footprint – than meat such as beef.

Scientists, insect producers and other experts discussed the key issues at the University of Exeter’s Penryn Campus in Cornwall...
