Businesses across the county are being invited to attend a new full-day event in Torquay aimed at helping them better understand digital technology and artificial intelligence.

Organised by Devon Chamber of Commerce, Digital Devon will take place on 9 June at the Riviera Centre, running from 10am to 4pm.

An online treatment proven to prevent anxiety and depression in young people is set to become available to the NHS and other mental health services worldwide.

The University of Exeter has developed and tested an effective internet-delivered treatment to tackle worry and overthinking called “rumination-focused cognitive behavioural therapy” (RFCBT), which helps people switch from unconstructive, repetitive thoughts to a concrete, specific and action-oriented style.

Student raises £10,000 for mental health charity by running five marathons in five days

A University of Exeter student has raised £10,000 for those affected by mental health issues during the coronavirus pandemic by running 131 miles in just five days.

Joey Higham had never taken part in a marathon before, but completed five in less than a week to raise awareness of the work of the charity Mind. He was spurred on by messages from supporters, including from a mother whose son had committed suicide, as he completed the gruelling physical challenge.

DFS to re-open Exeter showroom as part of phased re-opening plan

Following updates to government guidance on May 13th that allowed ‘homeware’ retailers to re-open, DFS will be welcoming customers back into its Exeter store from Friday May 29th.

The re-opening of the showroom is part of a phased plan that has already seen DFS re-open three stores in Leicester, Milton Keynes and Bolton on May 22nd. In addition to the Exeter store, a further 86 DFS stores in England will also re-open on May 29th.

Musicians and medics record stay-at-home charity single

A group of local musicians and medics have joined together to produce a charity video.

The eighteen talented performers have recorded a version of Help! by The Beatles.

And they all played their part from the safety of their own homes.
