Exeter Students Take Anti-Bullying Message to National Stage

Students from West Exe School have represented their community at a national anti-bullying conference in London.

Ayeisha, William and Willow, Senior Anti-Bullying Ambassadors at the school, travelled to the capital with staff to take part in the first Young Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA) meeting for the 2026 England and Wales cohort.

The conference brought together young people from across the country to share ideas, develop strategies, and strengthen efforts to tackle bullying in schools.

Major improvement work on A380

Extensive maintenance work is underway on the A380 and will continue until March.

The Department for Transport (DfT) has recently awarded Devon County Council a £5 million grant to carry out the improvements on the road, between the Teign Viaduct and Ashcombe Cross.

The County Council will also be providing over £1 million towards the scheme which will include resurfacing, replacing safety barriers, maintaining drainage systems, cutting back overgrown vegetation and replacing signs where necessary.

A meeting of East Devon District Council’s Strategic Planning Committee due to take place next Wednesday (September 23) to discuss Cranbrook Town Centre has been postponed following significant changes to the original proposals by developers.

A key element of the meeting was to discuss the proposal put forward by the East Devon New Community Partners (EDNCp) who are the developers for the majority of Cranbrook and have control of the land in the town centre.

Recycling rates increase during lockdown

Kerbside recycling rates across Devon increased during lockdown according to the latest figures released by Recycle Devon.

Ahead of the 16th Annual Recycle Week (September 21 to September 27) the figures show a 12 per cent increase between April and June 2020.
