New children's library opens in Exeter

After months of building work, the new children’s library in Exeter is now open to the public. The Clore Children's Library features a brand-new sensory area, a floating mezzanine and activities for older children. Designed to be welcoming and accessible to all children and families, and championing interests, passions and their imaginations.

DEVON folk are invited to an award-winning pub in Devon next month (August 2020) to take advantage of the Government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme.

The Swan, in Bampton, will give customers 50% off all food and drink every Tuesday and Wednesday, excluding alcohol, from August 4 until 26.

DESPITE the postponement of the full 2020 Dartmoor Folk Festival this August, the festival's traditional competitions and some fun activities will still be going ahead on-line.

The festival was due to take place at South Zeal near Okehampton on August 6, 7 and 8.

Instead, on Saturday, August 8, the traditional Dartmoor Step Dance and Broom Dancing competitions will take place via zoom meetings.

Exeter student creates 40 pieces of artwork for the 40 million people trafficked into modern slavery

Megan Buchanan-Smith, a student at the University of Exeter, learned about the transatlantic slave trade during her History degree. She was shocked to realise that there are now more people in slavery than ever before. Parents urged not to use facemask on their baby

Parents and guardians of babies under 12 months are advised not to cover their mouths with facemasks as it could cause breathing difficulties. While there have been no reports of ‘baby masks’ being sold in Devon, Torbay or Somerset, parents and guardians are urged not to buy them as they could harm their baby’s health.

The advice comes from Devon, Somerset and Torbay Trading Standards Service.
