Exeter funeral home makes eggs-tra special donation

A funeral home in Exeter has helped bring Easter joy to the local community and children in need after donating 205 chocolate eggs and ‘bags of hope’.

The treats were gathered through a collection donation drive organised by the team at Co-op Funeralcare Exeter on Cowick Street, in St Thomas Shopping Centre, with some of the Easter eggs donated to children living in temporary accommodation in the city.

There’s a new Wow! factor in Topsham right now - and it’s got wings!

The town has become the temporary home to the latest creation by east Devon sculptor and craftsman Brendan Rawlings, who makes large, striking, carved driftwood figures.

Snow expected on Dartmoor

Snow is forecast on Dartmoor and other areas of high ground across Devon overnight.

With the possibility of up to 14cm of snow on Dartmoor, Devon’s gritters heading onto roads across the moor will be fitted with ploughs when they roll-out later this evening (Thursday 3 December). Other areas of high ground across the county are more likely to see only a light dusting of snow and sleet.

With road surface temperatures also set to fall below zero on Dartmoor, wet roads may well become icy tomorrow morning. The rest of Devon is not expected to see freezing road temperatures...

RSPCA received more than 60 abandonment reports in Devon last winter

The charity saw more than 50 animals a day reported abandoned last Christmas and is braced for more this winter after pet ownership surged this year

The RSPCA received more than 4,600 reports of abandoned animals across England and Wales last winter* and is worried a surge in pet ownership could result in more unwanted animals this year.

Last winter, the charity received 4,650 reports of abandoned animals including 68 in Devon.

Exeter’s Corn Exchange is preparing to lift its curtains for the first time since March as it welcomes audiences to its latest Christmas panto, The Wizard of Oz.
