Exmouth author celebrates global recognition

Exmouth-based children’s author Chris McGuire is enjoying international recognition after his latest book, Blast from the Past, was shortlisted for the prestigious 2025 Scribe Awards.

The book — a fun-filled chapter story based on the beloved 1980s cartoon The Raccoons — was one of only five titles shortlisted globally in the Adapted Novel category by the International Association of Media Tie-In Writers. The Scribe Awards honour the best in books adapted from TV, film, and games.

Exeter College’s new Construction Centre extension has welcomed its first cohort of Construction T Level students following a £1million transformation creating a bespoke learning area for the new qualification.

The closure of Doctors Walk in Exeter has been welcomed as another boost for walking and cycling in the county.
