Devon is preparing for the possibility of widespread snow showers on Sunday morning (24 January).

Gritters will be carrying out multiple treatments overnight tonight as freezing temperatures and the risk of icy conditions and wintry showers continue into the weekend.

The County Council’s teams will be treating around 2,000 miles of roads on Devon’s primary and secondary salting network from around 7am tomorrow morning, ahead of a band of snow which is forecast to bring around 5cm of snow from the early hours of Sunday.

Whipton Barton Federation is undergoing refurbishment and is renewing its old and outdated furniture. Rather than send to landfill, it is planning to send nine classrooms worth of furniture to a school in the Yundum Barracks area of The Gambia, West Africa.

A new care home development in Exeter celebrates a major milestone, reaching the topping out stage, marking the completion of the latest phase of the construction programme for the 65 bed project.

The new home, officially named Cumberland Grange Care Home, has been built by Halsall Construction and will be operated by Barchester Healthcare. Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust (NDHT) and the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust (RD&E) have received the go-ahead from NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSEI) to continue working on plans to formally join together.

In November 2020, both Boards approved a ‘Strategic Case’ which sets out how the Trusts propose to become a single integrated organisation and submitted it to NHSEI for review.
