Mrs Caroline Munn, who works for her local Post Office in Hatherleigh, is looking forward to a worry-free autumn and winter thanks to winning 500 litres of heating oil from Okehampton-based Moorland Fuels in its Cosy Heating Club free quarterly oil draw.

St John Ambulance, the leading first aid charity, is looking for enthusiastic and committed people in locations across Devon to volunteer as Youth Leaders and Youth Helpers. Successful applicants will need to give a minimum of two hours each month and will work with the charity’s youngest volunteers, the Badgers (aged 5 to 11) and Cadets (aged 10 to 17), and guide them as they develop into the next generation of first aiders.

A new winter season of low-cost ‘Films at the Library’ is being rolled out by Libraries Unlimited across Devon and Torbay.

It’s now the seventh successful season of cosy in-house screenings for the charity, which runs the 54 libraries across the county.

The new season kicks off on Wednesday 6th November and the films on offer include the must-see Barbie movie, children’s favourite Wonka, and the ever-popular The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry.

With food banks and charities facing continued levels of need this winter, people are being urged to give the gift of their time to take part in the UK’s biggest food donation drive.

The 12th annual Tesco Winter Food Collection is taking place in all Tesco stores from November 28th to November 30th. To mark Recycle Week (14th-20th October), Aldi is calling on children in Devon to design a poster to encourage people to recycle.

Britain’s fourth-largest supermarket is inviting children to submit their designs for the chance to win a £250 Aldi voucher for their family.

Stagecoach South West introduces timetable changes

This Autumn local bus operator Stagecoach South West are introducing changes to some bus services within the region.

The changes, largely from Sunday 3rd November 2024, include some reliability and punctuality improvements as well as new tendered services in partnership with Devon County Council. Night buses also return in North Devon and Torbay for the festive period from the end of November.

In Torbay temporary timetables are introduced during the next phase of redevelopment works around Torquay Harbourside.
