Stagecoach has confirmed its ongoing commitment to the armed forces by announcing that it will be offering free travel for veterans and military personnel on its bus and tram services right across the UK on Remembrance Day and Remembrance Sunday.

Dunelm is calling on Exeter residents to help deliver oy to their community this Christmas

Delivering Joy, a campaign launched last year by national homewares retailer Dunelm which saw almost 20,000 gifts being delivered to the less fortunate, is returning this Christmas. Its Exeter store is calling on customers to take part to support their local communities.

Partnering with local care homes, schools and women’s refuges across the region, shoppers can help out by picking up a Delivering Joy gift tag from the store, in order to donate a corresponding giftbag filled with presents.

Jolly runners needed for festive fundraising runs!

After last year’s cancellation due to the pandemic, Jolly Running returns to Escot for its popular series of Christmas races.

Four fun festive races are planned for the weekend of December 11 and 12.

The ‘Extremely Jolly’ race on Saturday is one of Jolly Running’s most popular events. The 7.5 mile course offers a variety of trails, mud, woodland tracks, paths, streams, quaint bridges, fields and a few water crossings. Unique to Jolly Running is a 30 metre waterslide at the end of the course, which always causes great hilarity amongst participants.

Barchester’s Cumberland Grange care home, in Exeter, was a den of ghoulish activity as the home’s spooky Halloween afternoon party got in to full swing.

Residents and staff got in to the spirit of things by enjoying some music from local performers ‘Sounds Easy’ and enjoyed a delicious buffet.

General Manager, Haley Reeve-Larson said: “Our staff and residents love any excuse for a party! The home looks fantastic with all the decorations and our head chef did us proud with lots of spooky treats – we’ve all had a brilliant time.”

Devon parents can download a free locally developed app to check symptoms and get advice

Levels of the common childhood illness respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), which causes coughs and colds, peaked over the summer and are once again rising in the under 5’s .

Parents in Devon are being urged to look out for the possible signs of severe infection in vulnerable children and to download the free, locally developed HANDiApp ; which they can use to check symptoms and get advice on when to seek medical help.

Exeter Muddy Dog Challenge raises over £50 for Battersea

Over 350 animal lovers and their dogs came together at Escot House in Exeter last weekend (30 October) to take part in Battersea’s Muddy Dog Challenge.

Battersea’s Muddy Dog Challenge is one of the UK’s biggest obstacle courses members of the public can take part in with their dog.
