Cranbrook to Host First eat:Festival Food and Drink Event

eat:Festivals will be hosting a food and drink festival in Cranbrook on Sunday 13 September 2026.

The festival will be happening in the heart of the town, on and surrounding the Tillhouse Road. eat:Festivals are a small social enterprise who have been delivering one day food and drink festivals in towns across the south-west for over 13 years. According to diamond jewellery specialists, Angelic Diamonds, Exeter is among the UK's top cities for the unhappiest couples. They examined average monthly search data on searches relating to breaking up with a partner over the last year, such as, "How do I break up with somebody?". Six local projects have been awarded funding through Devon County Council’s Natural Capital Challenge Fund.

The £300,000 grant funding pilot scheme launched last year as part of Devon's £6 million recovery programme, which aims to provide help and support in four key areas: small and medium enterprises, employment and skills, the green recovery, and the hardest hit towns and communities. ‘Shop and drop’ to recycle and raise funds for charity

Visitors to Exeter city centre can now recycle plastic bottle tops and tubs at a brand-new drop-off point in Princesshay Shopping Centre and help contribute to a more circular economy.

Leading south west recycling and waste management firm, DCW, has partnered with the popular shopping destination to run its Recycle & Raise scheme all year round. Storm Eunice: High winds expected early Friday morning

Devon County Council is advising people to take extra care when travelling this Friday morning (February 18) with Storm Eunice expected to hit the region in the early hours.

The south west is expected to be battered by gale force winds from midnight to mid-morning on Friday and the Met Office has issued a Yellow Wind Warning.

Winds in coastal areas are expected to be the strongest with gusts of 60-70 mph possible over a reasonably large area.

New cairn for charity thanks to kind hearted builders

The Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust at Parke near Bovey Tracy has a brand new car park donation cairn, thanks to the huge generosity of local builders, suppliers and the continuing loyal support of the charity’s many friends.

Earlier this year, the cairn was destroyed and the car park donations, which are used to purchase hay for the charity’s ponies, stolen.

​Taylor Wimpey Exeter recently helped pupils at St Martin’s Primary School in Cranbrook plant 10 new trees to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The donation from Taylor Wimpey was to support the school’s involvement in The Queen’s Green Canopy campaign, a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee this year which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”.

84% of children and young people aged six to 17 in the South West believe they are capable of making a positive difference to the future of the planet, but almost three in five (59%) of those say they need others to help them.
