Local homebuilder donates £2,500 to local homelessness charity

Local homebuilder Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter division has donated a heart-warming £2,500 to St Petrock’s Exeter, a local charity that fights homelessness across Exeter and Devon.

The Barratt Developments Community Fund initiative looks to support those causes which have a positive impact within their local communities. Plans to build a new, purpose built Multi-Faith Centre on Streatham Campus at the University of Exeter have been approved by Exeter City Council this month.

The proposal, which is currently in the design phase, have been unveiled by the University with plans to build a dedicated Multi-Faith Centre to replace the existing Muslim prayer rooms and multi-faith spaces in the Old Library, creating a new space for quiet reflection and multi-faith activities, which promote respect, community and inclusion across the University.

Countryside Skills course aims to help career paths

A six-week "Countryside Skills" course will be held next month for unemployed people interested in working in the environment and countryside management sectors. The course, which starts on Tuesday 10 January, has been developed by community interest company Running Deer and is funded through Devon County Council’s Natural Capital Challenge Fund (NCCF), which was created to stimulate the county’s post-Covid recovery. Exeter bus passengers treated to live carols and a visit from Santa

On Wednesday 14th December, passengers travelling through Exeter City Centre’s Bus Station were treated to a live Carol Concert as part of the Stagecoach South West ‘It’s Christmas’ event.

SOUTH Western Railway (SWR) is reminding customers to only travel if absolutely necessary on Christmas Eve as strike action and industrial action will mean a severely reduced service that ends by 15:00. EGGHEADS from Devon helped raised more than £1,000 for a charity in the county at a Christmas quiz night held at an award-winning pub (December 2022).

Exeter City Council Chief Executive announces retirement

Exeter City Council Chief Executive and Growth Director Karime Hassan has announced he is stepping down from the Council at the end of March.

The Council’s current Deputy Chief Executive Bindu Arjoon will become Interim Chief Executive from April 1 pending the outcome of work that the Council is doing with the Local Government Association in the New Year.
