Live music fans are set for another celebration of amazing entertainment in the Devon countryside as TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham confirms its return for 2026.

Following its debut outing at the historic country estate this July, which saw headline performances from Duran Duran and Basement Jaxx, Live Nation’s Cuffe and Taylor are now planning for a bigger and better event next summer with plans to unveil the first 2026 headliner in the coming weeks.

New models predict 3.5-10 mm sea-level rise over the next 20 years. An international team of scientists has shown that Pine Island Glacier, the largest single contributor to sea-level rise in Antarctica, has entered a period of irreversible, self-sustained retreat and is likely to increase its discharge into the ocean in comparison to the last decade.

Busy weekend for Fire Service

It has been a busy weekend for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, with appliances being called to several dramatic incidents.

Today has seen Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service rescue a woman trapped in mud in Newton Abbot.

The incident, which occured at 3.54pm, saw two appliances from Newton Abbot and a specialist rescue team from Camels Head mobilised.

The woman in question was suffering from with ankle injuries and was stuck in the mud in the River Teign. On arrival the crews reported that the female was stuck in the mud up to her knees...

Countdown to the Big Farmland Bird Count

In just over two weeks, hundreds of farmers from across the country will be taking part in the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust’s (GWCT) Big Farmland Bird Count.

Fire Service called to Marshland Rescue

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called to a dramatic incident today ( Saturday 18th January) after a woman got trapped in a marsh whilst walking her dogs.

The incident took place at 11.14 am.

Fire Control received a 999 call from a local woman who whilst out walking her three dogs at Abbeyford Woods just north of Okehampton accidently wandered into marshland resulting in her becoming stuck in the marsh and slowly sinking.

The partnership between Princesshay and Exeter-based charity WESC Foundation has raised in excess of £30,000 in just 12 months.

WESC Foundation, located on Topsham Road, provides specialist care, education and therapy to children and young people with visual impairment and complex needs. More bad weather is on its way over the weekend with forecasters expecting heavy rainfall throughout today (Saturday).

The Met Office has issued a new yellow weather warning for rain for Devon this morning which could see travel disruption and further flooding take place throughout the region.

Missing 14 year-old girl from Exeter found

A missing 14 year old girl from Exeter has been found safe and well.

The girl, called Olivia, was reported missing from the Buddle Lane area of the city, where she was last seen at around 11pm on wednesday night.

Police had concerns for her welfare but has since been located.

Doctors in Devon are asking people to look in on their elderly relatives, neighbours and friends now that the cold weather is setting in.

As part of the national ‘Winter Friends’ NHS Choices campaign, Northern, Eastern and Western Devon Clinical Commissioning Group (NEW Devon CCG) has launched a short film to encourage people to keep an eye out for the elderly over the cold months.
