Live music fans are set for another celebration of amazing entertainment in the Devon countryside as TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham confirms its return for 2026.

Following its debut outing at the historic country estate this July, which saw headline performances from Duran Duran and Basement Jaxx, Live Nation’s Cuffe and Taylor are now planning for a bigger and better event next summer with plans to unveil the first 2026 headliner in the coming weeks.

£250,000 of cannabis seized in Exeter

Police have seized suspected cannabis plants, with an estimated street value of £250,000, following a warrant at a warehouse in Marsh Barton, Exeter.

Officers were alerted to the premises at 8.15pm on Saturday 25 January after a police dog handler was walking in the area as part of a training exercise and noticed an overwhelming smell of what she believed to be cannabis.

The dog led the officers to a non-descript warehouse on the estate, where neighbourhood officers were called to assist.

Exeter City Police make drug related arrest

One male and one female have been arrested after being discovered possessing drugs.

The offenders were searched after police saw the pair in a side alley whilst on foot patrol.

The search resulted in 50 drug wraps being discovered.

The pair were arrested following this discovery.

New hours for Council's customer service

Exeter City Council's Customer Service Centre looks set to change its opening hours.

The decision which will go before the City Council's Executive on Tuesday 4 February, could see the centre open for an extra day each week.

Currently the Customer Service Centre is open four days a week but stays open into the late evening on Thursday. Cllr Rob Hannaford, Lead Councillor for Housing and Customer Access, said the Council had been trialling the late night opening on Thursdays since March last year but it hadn't been very popular.

After the success of their inaugural event, the Theatre Buddy Scheme will return on 1st February as student volunteers invite elderly residents of a local care home to join them for an afternoon of musical theatre.

The Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital are now able to expand their chemotherapy services after a sister at the hospital has completed her training.

Chemotherapy services at the private hospital, which many don't even realise are available, offer that extra bit of privacy.

More flood risk as heavy rain continues

Forecasters are warning that further heavy rain is due to hit Devon until late on Tuesday (28 January).

The Met Office warns that frequent showers, some heavy, will bring a further 10-15 mm of rainwater into the region with the risk of up to 40 mm of rain on some areas of high ground.

The rain brings the risk of even further flooding and travel disruption especially in areas where the ground is already saturated.

New house building site in Exeter

An Exeter housebuilder has revealed plans to launch a new local site within the next 12 months. David Wilson Homes claim that the site for 40 houses will provide around 80 new jobs in building and sales, mostly for local tradesmen and sub-contractors.

"The Prime Minister has said again and again that one of the best ways to boost economic growth and get people working is through building more homes," said Louise Ware, sales director for David Wilson Homes.

£500 reward to find phone shop thieves

The Carphone Warehouse in Tiverton has offered a £500 reward for information after a large number of phones were taken during a burglary last week.

The store in Tiverton’s Fore Street, was targeted by thieves in the early hours of Thursday 23 January 2014.

The thieves broke into an empty property above the shop and before breaking through the floor into offices below.

Carphone Warehouse is offering the reward for information that leads to the conviction of those responsible for the theft of the phones, worth £3,500.

Motorists in Exeter can now pay for parking by phone, the City Council has announced.

New PayByPhone technology allows anyone using Exeter City Council's 23 pay and display car parks to pay for their ticket by phone.

The City Council wanted a parking payment solution that gave motorists the flexibility to pay by phone and charge parking to their credit or debit card, instead of being constrained by the amount of change they had in their pockets or handbag.
