Communities impacted by the recent flash floods are being supported with a series of drop-in sessions over the coming weeks. Initial investigations have found that more than 200 homes were flooded during the torrential rainfall on Sunday 17 September. As part of the ongoing flood recovery efforts, Devon County Council, East Devon District Council, Exeter City Council, South Hams District Council, Teignbridge District Council and the Environment Agency are organising community engagement events. Road users are being urged to take extra care on Devon’s roads from this afternoon (Wednesday 27 September) with the Met Office forecasting the possibility of disruption from the first named storm of this autumn season. Storm Agnes is expected to impact most of the county and a Yellow Weather Warning for strong winds has been issued by the Met Office from midday tomorrow until 7am on Thursday morning. The Heart of the South West LEP has launched a Peer Network programme, giving SMEs the opportunity to learn from successful businesses, to help to boost productivity and resilience.

The Peer Networks will be led by an experienced facilitator, with each network consisting of a minimum of 11 owners or managers from the SME business community across Devon, Somerset, Plymouth and Torbay. Developer secures approval for new Exeter site

135 new homes will be delivered on the eastern outskirts of Exeter by a five-star housebuilder after it secured planning permission to develop the next phase of housing at Mosshayne.

The houses will be the third phase of the development currently being built by Persimmon Homes South West, totalling 900 houses once completed.

Swinging sixties songs through to modern music entertained residents and staff at an Exeter care home's annual festival.

The Old Rectory celebrated TORstock with musical acts and entertainment, colourful sixties and seventies fancy dress, and a barbecue.

Tom Matthews, the Southern Healthcare care home's activities coordinator, explained: "The festival went on all day, and we had music and a barbecue. There was lots of entertainment from father and daughter duo, Steph and Daz, singer and musician George Williams, and magician Graham Prigg."
