Developer secures approval for new Exeter site

135 new homes will be delivered on the eastern outskirts of Exeter by a five-star housebuilder after it secured planning permission to develop the next phase of housing at Mosshayne.

The houses will be the third phase of the development currently being built by Persimmon Homes South West, totalling 900 houses once completed.

There will be 32 one-bed, 51 two-bed, 44 three-bed, six four-bed, and two five-bed homes as part of the plans. 19 two-beds and 15 three-beds will be made available as social and affordable housing for local people.

As part of its contribution across the development, nearly £600,000 of funding will go towards bus shelters, the local travel plan, public transport, and nearby habitats.

Persimmon will install house martin nest boxes, swallow nest cups, and bat boxes to enhance biodiversity on site. There will also be pedestrian connections to public footpaths and cycle routes to Exeter and the wider area.

The decision marks a continuation of Persimmon’s successful ongoing presence in the vicinity. They have now had approval to construct at its Cherry Wood Grange site and three phases of its Ashworth Place development.

Commenting, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes South West, Dan Heathcote, said: “We’re delighted to have secured this permission to add more homes to our exciting Mosshayne site and continue our investment in the area.

“It means another 135 homes for local people to raise their families and achieve the dream of homeownership. It also means 34 much needed public homes to help meet local housing need in the area.

“We’re pleased to make financial contributions towards public transport as well as providing active travel routes to both Exeter and Cranbrook so the development works as best as possible for the generations of future residents that will benefit from the homes we are building.

“We’ve made excellent progress on our current Ashworth Park developments so far, and we look forward to continuing that good work on future phases, delivering quality homes for local people.”
