School Bus Crash leaves Driver in Hospital

A woman suffered serious injuries after a road traffic collision involving a school minibus and a van in Holsworthy yesterday afternoon. (25 March)

None of the 15 Children on the minibus, from Holsworthy Community College, received any serious injuries in the crash.

A statement on the schools' website says "pupils suffered minor injuries and shock and were given first aid in school." but "No pupils have suffered serious injury."

Sign Language Week is Social Media Triumph

With the backing of local radio, businesses, and celebrities such as Caroline Quentin, with over 100 videos created, the British Sign Language Celebration (BSL) Week campaign, run by Exeter Deaf Academy, SignUp BSL and Deafinite Interpreters has been a great success. The campaign hoped to get as many people as possible filming themselves signing their name and the organisations were inundated with clips. Exeter City to hold Futsal Tournament

Exeter City is holding its first ever One Game One Community five a side Futsal tournament next Sunday (30 March).

Players from local black and minority ethnic communities have been especially invited to participate at the event which is being held in the University of Exeter Sports Hall. The Exeter City Supporters Trust backed One Game One Community (Kick it Out) Group aims to promote equality and diversity through football related initiatives. A regular outdoor summer tournament is held but this is the first time an indoor competition has been organised.

Devon NHS leader wins prestigious national award

A Devon NHS and local government leader has won a prestigious national award for her exceptional work to improve people’s health and wellbeing and help them get the care they need in or close to their home.

Keri Storey was victorious in the National NHS Leadership Recognition Awards at a ceremony in central London.

Sidbury Community Enterprises is excited to announce that the Red Lion pub in Sidbury village looks set to become the first pub in East Devon which having been listed as an Asset of Community Value becomes a community owned pub. The pub’s owner, Punch Taverns, placed it up for sale in April 2013 and in response to a local campaign to retain the pub its owner has today agreed to sell it to Sidbury Community Enterprises.

IOD works with Exeter's Business Students

Businesses in Devon and Cornwall are being encouraged to offer work placements to students as part of a partnership between the University of Exeter Business School and the Institute of Directors.

Ex-rugby players row to raise £8,000 for charity

Two former professional rugby players have raised thousands of pounds for two charities by organising a month-long rowing event.

Sam Blythe, 37, and Shane Kingsland, 27, who both played for Exeter Chiefs, started rowing on New Year’s Day for the event, called Janurow.

They rowed every day until the end of the month to hit their personal target of a million metres (1,000km) each.

They also recruited around 40 members of the public – with a total of 10.1 million metres (10,000km) rowed by those taking part.

Free Car Charging opens in Exeter

New free car charging facilities are being installed across Exeter this week in a bid to encourage more people to use electric vehicles.

From Friday (28 March) drivers will be able to charge electric vehicles at four key sites in the city, with four more to follow by 21 April,
