In July EX2 Group was proud to support Building Greater Exeter’s Work Experience Week, an inspiring initiative aimed at introducing Year 10 students to careers in the built environment.

T-shirt weather coming to an end

If you've been casting off your clothes to enjoy the wall to wall sunshine and scorching temperatures over the past week, you may want to revisit your wardrobe.

For the forecast published by the Met Office up until Saturday shows a change is on the way.

Whilst the beginning of the week saw temperatures of up to 24C, by the weekend we will be dodging heavy showers and even possible thunder storms.

Civil Engineer’s President to visit South Devon Link Road

The South Devon Link Road project team will be welcoming Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) President Geoff French when he visits the South West early next month (4 July).

Devon County Council and Torbay Council, along with Galliford Try, will be hosting a special visit for the President as part of his tour of UK regions.

Geoff French will be visiting the site to find out more about the project. He will be given a presentation on the background, followed by a tour of the construction site for the chance to view the works at close quarters.

Exeter launches Britain in Bloom bid

Exeter launched its bid for RHS Britain in Bloom on Tuesday (24 June) amongst the flowers of Northernhay Gardens in the heart of the city.

After an absence of over ten years, Exeter is taking part in this year’s prestigious Britain in Bloom competition.

Judging will take place in Exeter on 8 July.

Keen cyclists needed

Exeter Youth Rugby are urging keen cyclists to take part in a four day cycle ride around the perimeter of Devon, which aims to raise money for the organisation and the Exeter Foundation.

Five teams of two cyclists are required for the race, entitled 'The Tomahawk tour', which begins on Wednesday 3 September.

Those who take part in the race, which covers some 300 miles, will help Exeter Youth Rugby's aim to raise £10,000 for the organisation and the Exeter Foundation, with all funds being split 50/50.

Bicton College in possible merger talks

Bicton College is discussing a potential merger to secure its long term future, The Exeter Daily can reveal today. The move follows a review undertaken by the government’s Further Education Commissioner, Dr David Collins, after financial issues were raised by the Skills Funding Agency. Minister for Skills and Enterprise, Matthew Hancock, has written to college Principal, David Henley, outlining his concerns. Holidays potentially on hold due to French Union Strike

Those travelling to France between now and Monday 30 June may be left disappointed, with Flybe cancelling some flights due to strikes taking place in the country.

Flybe reported, via their website, that French Unions have called for an official six-day strike scheduled to take place in France between 0400 (French local time) on June 24 and 0400 (French local time) on June 30, 2014.

Flybe have been requested, by the French aviation authorities, to reduce their flying programme. This means a number of flight cancellations to the country are to be expected.

Exeter's Saltrock will play host to local musicians who will play live in store on Thursday July 3 from 4pm until 7pm.

The event is completely free of charge and customers are welcome to come along and enjoy live music while they shop for beach style clothing for all the family. People in Devon are being asked for their view on the county’s Highways and Transport services.

Devon County Council is one of 78 Local Authorities in England and Scotland taking part in the annual National Highways and Transport Public Satisfaction survey over the next few weeks. It covers all aspects of local highway and transport services, from the condition of roads to the quality of local bus services.

It is the seventh year that the survey has been carried out and asks people across the country exactly the same questions, whether they live in Devon, Dorset or Derby....
