Devon Young Carers shine at the 2025 Young Carers Festival

Seventeen young carers from across Devon have enjoyed a well-deserved break from their caring responsibilities at the largest festival in the world dedicated to young people with unpaid caring roles.

It’s the 25th year that Devon Young Carers has attended the Young Carers Festival at YMCA Fairthorne Manor at Botley in Hampshire. Students help hedgehogs at Knightshayes

Hedgehog numbers are on the decline in Britain, partly due to loses of suitable habitats, but students on the National Citizen Service (NCS) Government scheme are working in partnership with Petroc College, Tiverton and Knightshayes to help boost the local hedgehog population.

Academy of Floral Art wins gold at RHS Hampton Court

Amongst the exquisite floral designs and heavenly scented roses in the Rose and Floristry Marquee at RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, the Academy of Floral Art were awarded an RHS gold medal for their bright and colourful competition stand depicting the circus.

The Academy of Floral Art based in Dunchideock near Exeter made up two teams (from some of their 80 students) to work in shifts from 8am-2pm and 2pm-8pm on Sunday 6 July. Their mission was to create a display that evoked the excitement and intrigue of the circus.

Exeter Cathedral is set to receive £60,000 from the Government’s First World War Centenary Cathedral Repairs Fund.

The fund was announced in the Budget and set up in recognition of the powerful symbol cathedrals are of Britain’s shared history as well as the significant role they will play when the nation comes together to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.

The brother of a woman battling one of the world’s rarest diseases is taking to the saddle to raise money for vital medical research into the condition.
