Learn to play returns: Devon

The highly anticipated Learn to Play event, a flagship initiative by the UK charity Music for All, is returning this autumn, offering anyone the opportunity to experience the joys of music-making. The event will take place from 9-12 October 2025 in Crediton, Devon, hosted by Crediton Youth Orchestra. It is open to everyone, regardless of age, background, or experience, providing a free taster music lesson to encourage new and lapsed musicians alike.

Firefighters urge vigilance

Home and business owners are being urged to be extra vigilant as the firefighters strike enters its third day today.

The action is part of a dispute between the Fire Brigades Union and the Government over pension reforms.

Firefighters will strike between noon and 2pm and 10.59pm and 11.59pm until Saturday 16 August.

EDDC aims to protect vulnerable

Teams from the Housing Service at East Devon District Council are working with partners to minimise the impact that cuts in Devon County Council (DCC) funding will have on over 1,300 elderly and vulnerable tenants. Exeter Foundation's £50k legacy fund

The Exeter Foundation has announced it will be putting up £50,000 to fund local legacy projects.

£38m for superfast broadband improvements
