Amy tackles huge challenge to thank FORCE

Twelve months ago, Amy Martin could barely run at all after a tough regime of cancer treatment.

But on Sunday May 24, she’ll be one of 440 people lining up as part of Team FORCE at Exeter’s Great West Run.

Amy aims to raise £1,000 for FORCE Cancer Charity to say thank you for all the support she has received from them since a diagnosis of breast cancer in late 2023.

She has signed up for the 10k — the 13.1 mile half marathon option wasn’t on the cards — and admits: “I will be walk-running, but I will finish it because I am a bit stubborn and — let’s be real— I’ve...

The cost of not saying thank you for presents

After the last of the Christmas presents have been unwrapped and all the cards have been opened, you may be wise to spare a thought to writing your thank you letters if you want to avoid being given a cheaper gift next year.

New research by Royal Mail has revealed the true cost of not saying thank you for Christmas presents.

Of those people expecting thank you letters, over half (52%) say they’d reduce the cost of their gift by up to £10 next year if they didn’t receive a thank you letter. A further 10% said they’d cut their budget from £21 to £25 if they weren’t thanked...

The Force’s two contact centres in Plymouth and Exeter receive more than a million calls a year. Although many people use the service responsibly there are still a significant number who, whether through ignorance or impatience, waste police time and also increase call waiting times for genuine callers.

Over the last couple of weeks Chief Superintendent Jim Nye, head...
