Traineeship places available at River Cottage

River Cottage have released 15 sought-after spaces for their Traineeship Scheme to start this January. Available to everyone aged 16-24 across both Devon and Dorset, the scheme will run from 26 January for three months.

Beach huts improvements get thumbs up

East Devon District Council cabinet has recommended that an extensive refurbishment and replacement programme be put in place to improve the current provision of its popular beach huts and chalets at Sidmouth, Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Seaton and Beer.

To ensure the economic viability and sustainability of the beach huts, as an enduring local amenity, a sinking fund of £19,000 will be established, which will enable new beach hut schemes to be created. It will also mean that old huts, which have reached the end of their life, can be replaced.

Kingskerswell road schedule announced

The schedule for construction of the Decoy Link Road has been announced by Devon County Council, Teignbridge District Council and Galliford Try, the company responsible for building the road.

Kingskerswell Road is to be closed from just past the entrance to Buckland Athletic Football Club through to the junction with Priory Road for approximately four months while road widening and straightening takes place. Priory Road will remain open.

Police warning over telephone fraudsters

Devon and Cornwall Police has been investigating an increased number of telephone frauds involving unknown persons randomly calling members of the public on their home telephone numbers and convincing them to part with or transfer thousands of pounds in cash.

The criminals use a number of different stories to get the victim to give away their money. The most recent story involves a jewellery shop.
