Darts Farm celebrates 55 years with Summer Festival

Darts Farm is celebrating a remarkable milestone - 55 years since of ‘Darts Farm’ and they are celebrating with a three-day Summer Festival from 12th to 14th June 2026.

The long weekend community celebrations include live music, from legendary local band Mad Dog Mcrea and The Luke Combs Experience, with a vibrant line-up of local talent.

Serious collision leaves five injured

Emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious collision in Ipplepen, Devon, which has left five people injured.

Police, fire and ambulance crews and the air ambulance were called to the collision between two cars on the A381 Totnes Road at 1pm today (10 April).

The occupants of one car, a woman and two young children, have sustained serious injuries and have been taken to hospital.

One child has been taken by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital and the other child has been taken by ambulance to Torbay District Hospital.

Youngsters asked to vote on theme for new children's X-ray room

Young visitors to the X-ray department at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital are being asked to help decide on a design theme for a new children’s X-ray room.

Having an x-ray can be quite a scary experience for young patients so the Medical Imaging staff are keen to create a clinical area that is more welcoming and friendly.

Children visiting the X-ray department can now vote for a theme – underwater, jungle or space – by placing a token in the corresponding voting box in the waiting room.

The team are hoping to raise funds to refurbish an existing X-ray room with...

YFC and NFU quiz raises £1,745 for charity

On Friday 27 February, Sandford Parish Hall hosted a sell-out quiz which was organised by members of Newton St Cyres Young Farmers Club and the Crediton/Witheridge branch of the National Farmers Union.

The successful event raised £1,745 for the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) and the Farming Community Network (FCN).

Solo and self-supported ultra marathon runner Kevin Carr has been running for 19 months, back in his home county of Devon having circumnavigated the globe – running between a marathon and a half and two marathons a day.

Highway maintenance budgets approved

The funding shortfall for Devon’s road network will be raised with the next Government, Devon County Council has announced.

In setting out its programmes for its capital and revenue budgets for highway maintenance, the County Council’s Cabinet yesterday (Wednesday 8 April) gave a commitment to make further representations to the incoming government.

The Council is receiving £42.3 million from the Department for Transport for its capital budget 2015/16 to deal with planned structural maintenance on Devon’s 8,000 miles of roads, which is the biggest highway network of any...
