Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

Scientists urge public to take part in final part of health survey

Scientists in Cornwall are making a final appeal for people to take part in research that will shed light on the health effects of marine pollution.

To help them assess the health risks that ocean-goers might face, the researchers want to compare the health of people who venture into the waves with those who stay firmly on shore.

Local NHS Trust finishes runner-up in national patient experience awards

The NHS Trust that runs Exeter Community Hospital in Whipton and community health and social care services across the city finished runner-up at a national awards ceremony for its work to resolve complaints at the earliest possible stage.

The Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust was a finalist in the Patient Experience Network National Awards (PENNA), which took place at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

Schools urged to donate books to Africa

Schools in the South West are being invited to donate books to schools in rural parts of South Africa, as part of a competition to learn about farming in the country.

The 2015 Help a South African School competition asks children in years one through to 11 to learn about fruit farming and the difference it makes to the lives of families in South Africa, and to produce a collage of their learnings.

Pioneering new research has unlocked a new technique to help combat the rise of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, that cause debilitating and often life-threatening human illness.
