Wain Homes Golf Day Raises Nearly £19,000 for Devon Hospice

A Devon hospice has received a welcome boost of nearly £19,000 following housebuilder Wain Homes’ annual South West Charity Golf Day at Bovey Castle.

More than 70 golfers from across the housebuilding industry took part in the event in support of Hospiscare, Wain Homes’ South West charity of the year. The charity provides specialist care and support to patients and their families living with life-limiting illnesses across Exeter and central and east Devon.

ECFC celebrate community diversity

Exeter City Football Club will once again celebrate diversity in the local community by holding an international football tournament this Sunday (26 July).

The 6 a side competition has been organised by Exeter City Supporters Trust’s One Game One Community Group and Exeter City’s Football in the Community team. It will take place at the University of Exeter’s Streatham Sports Complex.

East Devon got busy during the recent Devon Pollinator Week (July 11-19) by making green spaces irresistible to insects.

Street scene parks and gardens team have sown wildflower meadows in Sidmouth, Seaton and Exmouth bringing colour to our streets and nectar for our pollinating insects. The seed is sown late May, early June and will flower over the coming weeks. A perennial mix has also been sown in the meadow area of The Byes in Sidmouth.

PCC Tony Hogg to step down

Tony Hogg has today announced that he will not seek re-election as police and crime commissioner for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly next May.

Mr Hogg, who was elected in November 2012, says he is proud of his achievements during 32 months in office.

Host families needed in Devon

A Devon-based work placement company is seeking host families for international trainees as it prepares for its busiest summer yet.

The Training Partnership (TTPL) is welcoming more than 240 trainees to the county in July, and another 300 from August to October, with a need for host families in Exeter, Torbay and across South Devon for this summer, autumn and beyond.
