White Stuff Ice Cream Truck Tour heads for Exeter

To celebrate 40 years, White Stuff is hitting the road with a summer ice cream truck tour, which includes a day in Exeter.

Throughout this month they’ll be serving up free scoops along the south coast, bringing their signature style and community spirit to some of the UK’s favourite seaside destinations. Visitors will also be able to ‘Spin To Win’, with the chance to win some of the brand’s 40th Anniversary product.

The tour kicks off in St Ives, where White Stuff is teaming up with St Ives Surf School to offer locals free surf lessons and gear hire on Saturday 19 July....

Police warning after spate of thefts from vehicles in Exeter

Police in Exeter are advising residents to be vigilant following a spate of theft from vehicles.

A number of vehicles have been entered having been left unlocked or entered by unknown means without causing damage, and property stolen.

Residents are asked to be alert to unusual people in their area, to keep all vehicles locked, keep valuables out of sight and to report all suspicious activity to the police.

In the latest spike of crimes vehicles were entered in the Beacon Heath and Heavitree areas overnight.

The team behind a new health & wellbeing hub aimed at some of Exeter’s most disadvantaged communities has this week been selected by the prestigious King’s Fund to address a national conference on Public Health and Housing.

Exeter Council for Voluntary Service is developing former Exeter City Council offices at Wat Tyler House in King William Street into a multi-agency wellbeing hub aimed at supporting people with multiple and complex needs in their recovery, and to play a fuller part in their communities. Exe-Arts workshops come to St David's

Superact is pleased to announce their new project Exe-Arts for the St David’s community in Exeter.

Superact is a not for profit arts organisation based at the Exeter Community Centre in St David’s, and from September will be offering community art sessions for all ages in the art rooms of the centre. Detectives have released EvoFITs of two men they would like to identify in connection with a road rage incident in Axminster.

On Monday 6 April at around 6.30pm two men were assaulted at Weycroft, Axminster, during an alleged road rage incident.

The victims sustained serious head injuries as a result of being struck with a bottle and hammer. They were taken to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton for treatment.

The suspects left the scene in a dark Ford Focus, heading in the Chard direction.

East Devon District Council is inviting local residents who live near Belshers Slipway and Shelly Beach in Exmouth, as well as people who use the slipway and the beach, to comment on its proposal to introduce a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) that could address alleged anti social behaviour, occurring on the beach and slipway.

Some incidents, involving the launching and recovery of watercraft, as well as people driving onto the beach to access watercraft on the estuary, have become a source of annoyance to some people living nearby.

Two arrested after PCSO assaulted in Exeter

Two men have been arrested following reports of disorderly behaviour in Exeter.

Police officers were called to the Cathedral Green on Tuesday 4 August shortly before 7.15pm after a group were reportedly acting in a disorderly manner in a local restaurant.

When officers arrived to speak to the group, a man became aggressive and allegedly assaulted a male PCSO by pushing him to the floor.

Two men were arrested at the scene.

A 20-year-old man from Oxford was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a PCSO and taken to Heavitree Road police station.

Warning to landlords over immigration checks

Landlords in Devon will need to carry out thorough immigration status checks on their prospective tenants before granting tenancies in the future – or face stiff penalties including the possibility of imprisonment, warns leading law firm Stephens Scown LLP.

The government is expected to include a new penalty of up to five years in prison for landlords who fail to carry out the necessary ‘right to rent’ checks on their tenants, while a fine of up to £3,000 per tenant is also possible. The changes are likely to be included in the Immigration Bill this autumn.

Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault near the Guildhall Shopping Centre, Exeter at around 1.45am Sunday 2 August.

The victim was walking with his brother when he was confronted by a group of men, of which one punched the victim to the floor before running away from the scene in the direction of the Tesco Metro – he is believed to have been wearing a brown top.
