Devon County Show launches first‑ever Community Growing Hub

The Devon County Show is proud to announce the launch of its first‑ever Community Growing Hub, a major new feature for 2026 designed to inspire visitors of all ages to get growing, get gardening, and get connected. More than 6,000 Exeter City fans will be making the 250 mile journey to Liverpool today as the sides battle for an Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round place at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp has said that he will field a similar side to that which faced the Grecians at St James Park eleven days ago. This will be the first time City have visited Anfield since 1981.

Gritters prepare for countywide freeze

Devon County Council's gritting teams are preparing for the coldest night of the season so far with the forecast of a countywide freeze overnight (TUESDAY JAN 19th).

Road surface temperatures are set to drop below freezing across Devon from early evening, with lows of -6.3C expected in East Devon.

South West law firm Stephens Scown LLP has helped a man win his long fight against construction giant Balfour Beatty after he blew the whistle over what appeared to him to be a deception of the Welsh Government.

Nigel McArthur, from Exmouth in Devon, was a regional pre-construction manager at Balfour Beatty. He worked at the company for nearly ten years and had nearly 40 years’ experience in the construction industry.

Key milestone for East Devon’s Local Plan

A key milestone has been reached with East Devon’s Local Plan following official confirmation from the independent Planning Inspector that the plan, subject to a number of modifications, is now ‘sound’.

This means that East Devon District Council can now move forward to formally adopt the Local Plan and the additional Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) charging schedule. A meeting to adopt the plan is expected to take place at the end of January.

Pennon fundraises for WaterAid campaign

Exeter-based Pennon Group Plc, which owns South West Water, Bournemouth Water and Viridor, has been raising funds for WaterAid’s ‘Deliver Life’ appeal.

Every £1 donated to the campaign - which runs until 10 February - will be doubled by the UK Government. WaterAid is hoping to help 130,000 mums and their families in some of the world’s poorest areas through the provision of safe clean water and sanitation.
