The spread of a disease that is decimating global bee populations is manmade, and driven by European honeybee populations, new research has concluded.

A study led by the University of Exeter and UC Berkeley and published in the journal Science found that the European honeybee Apis mellifera is overwhelmingly the source of cases of the Deformed Wing Virus infecting hives worldwide. The finding suggests that the pandemic is manmade rather than naturally occurring, with human trade and transportation of bees for crop pollination driving the spread.

Princesshay and Exeter BID are pleased to announce their support and commitment to the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance, a local organisation established in 2015.

The main aim of the alliance is to reduce the stigma and misconceptions of dementia by raising awareness in the Exeter community and for local businesses to consider their service provision for people living with dementia.

The magnificent nave of Exeter Cathedral, which houses the longest continuous vaulted ceiling in Europe, is to return to its medieval roots for the hosting of a Spring Fair. The event is sponsored by Bonhams and takes place on Thursday 10th March 2016.
