New report reveals UK's happiest places to be a dog

Exeter comes 9th in Dogs Trust's Happy Place Index, but we all have room for improvement

For dogs, a happy place can be somewhere physical, like cuddling up next to their owner on the sofa, dozing by the fire or rolling around in a muddy puddle. But it can also be a feeling, like the excitement of a new toy, the comfort of being with their favourite humans, or the relief of just being somewhere safe.

To examine the various factors that contribute to a dog's satisfaction, an academic has developed a new formula – the Canine Happiness Score (CHS).

Public feedback proves a Public Space Protection Order is not required at Belsher’s Slipway or Shelly Beach

East Devon District councillors have resolved not to introduce a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) to address reported issues of antisocial behaviour involving the use of personal water craft at Belshers Slipway and Shelly Beach in Exmouth.

The decision was made in light of overwhelming local feedback received by the council in response to a consultation it undertook, which asked for the public’s views on how a PSPO would impact on their use and enjoyment of these...

There's still time for people to have their say on whether Exeter introduces a new tool called a public spaces protection order (PSPO) to tackle anti-social behaviour such as street-drinking and the taking of legal highs in Exeter city centre.

Exeter City Council has decided to extend its consultation to give people more time to have their say on the PSPO and what it should include, if introduced.

The consultation period was due to close on 22 January but has now been extended until 29 February.

Cllr Keith Owen, Lead Councillor for antisocial behaviour, said: "We...

A weather warning of snow and ice has been issued for Devon.

A longer spell of spell of sleet and snow will move southeastwards across Wales and into parts of the West Country overnight.

Snow accumulations of 1-3cm are possible above 200 metres, with some small slushy accumulations to low levels very locally.

With some of the showers falling as sleet or rain, ice is more likely to prove a hazard here where surfaces are...

Chiefs side to face Bordeaux

Rob Baxter wants his Exeter Chiefs side to go “flat out” in their quest to keep alive their qualification hopes in this season’s European Champions Cup.

Tomorrow, the high-flying Aviva Premiership outfit head across the English Channel to tackle Bordeaux-Begles in their penultimate fixture in Pool Two of this season’s competition.

With two victories and two losses to their name, the Chiefs know nothing less than a victory at the Stade Chaban Dalmas (2pm) will be good enough if they are to stand any chance of advancing to the last eight.

Voters who read media reports highlighting the slim Parliamentary majority of the Conservative Party are less likely to believe Prime Minister David Cameron can have an impact on their lives, University of Exeter researchers have found.

A survey by academics has found those who saw articles which highlight the Government’s working majority of 16 then believe Ministers are not able to deliver on their campaign promises.

The research team lead by Professor Dan Stevens, based at the Exeter Q-Step Centre and University’s Centre for Elections, Media and Participation, surveyed 1...
