Exeter funeral home makes eggs-tra special donation

A funeral home in Exeter has helped bring Easter joy to the local community and children in need after donating 205 chocolate eggs and ‘bags of hope’.

The treats were gathered through a collection donation drive organised by the team at Co-op Funeralcare Exeter on Cowick Street, in St Thomas Shopping Centre, with some of the Easter eggs donated to children living in temporary accommodation in the city.

Excitement builds for West Country Brick Show

On Saturday 30 July, two rooms of the city centre's Exeter Phoenix will be taken over by LEGOⓇ fans and traders for the West Country Brick Show.

Show organisers, 'West Country Bricks', are a LEGO user group of adult fans from the South West who enjoy collecting, building, and customising LEGO, as well as sharing their passion for the hobby. They are also members of the Brickish Association, the largest LEGO User Group in the UK.

Young actors to soar at Exeter Northcott

Following a hugely successful audition call, Exeter Northcott Theatre is proud to present the young actors who will play the roles of John and Michael Darling in its 2016 Christmas show, Peter Pan.

Along with the Lost Boys cast, the roles will split equally between two teams of actors throughout the run which starts on Friday 2 December.

Police launch investigation into deaf academy

Police are investigating allegations over the way people are cared for at Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education.

It follows claims made by a whistleblower.

Police confirmed they were involved in the investigation.

Used car dealers sentenced

Two used car dealers operating out of Bideford, North Devon, have been found guilty of selling dangerous and unroadworthy second-hand cars.

At Exeter Crown Court on 21 July 2016, Paul Fitzgerald John Hussey received a suspended sentence and was ordered to carry out 200 hours unpaid work and Adam George Wallis was ordered to carry out 150 hours unpaid work.

In summing up the judge said it was only by luck that their activities had not led to a ‘serious road accident.’

The University of Exeter has come fifth in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) rankings for the 2015 / 2016 season—equalling its best ever overall achievement and beating its own record on points.
