Since the beginning of the year, informal discussions have been held between Sidmouth Town Council (STC) and East Devon District Council (EDDC) on carrying out a scoping exercise as the first stage in the process of development and renewal of Sidmouth’s Port Royal and Eastern Town. These discussions followed on from an agreement in principle to jointly fund this work between the two authorities.

Police have arrested three men after executing two warrants in Exeter.

At around 5.30pm on Thursday 7th July local officers, assisted by the force’s specialist support group, executed two simultaneous warrants at two flats in Kinnerton Way, Exeter.

The warrants were executed under the Misuse of Drugs Act and followed earlier information received.

The three men arrested are all from Exeter and were all arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs. Two of the men are aged 20 while the third is aged 19. All three have been released on police...

A new gargoyle in the shape of a Bishop’s mitre, marking the appointment of the first woman bishop in Devon, is to be unveiled this weekend.

The new gargoyle on the church of St Mary, Aylesbeare replaces one lost from the church decades ago, and joins the three remaining gargoyles on the 15th century tower.

It was designed to mark the appointment of Bishop Sarah Mullally as the new bishop of Crediton in 2015. She was the first woman bishop in the South West, and the fourth in the country as a whole.
