Blundell's Road closed for five days

Road users are being reminded that Blundell’s Road in Tiverton is closed to through traffic for five days from today (Monday 22 August).

The closure is needed to carry out essential resurfacing as part of road safety and traffic calming improvements to reduce speeds and make it easier for pedestrians to cross the road.

Lawyers urged to join will writing charity drive

Lawyers across the UK are being urged to raise money for charity by writing wills as part of a national month-long drive. Legal firms are being asked to sign up to Will Aid Month, which takes place across the country from 01-30 November 2016. The programme relies on solicitors to pledge their time and support for the cause which sees them provide the Will writing service for free in return for a voluntary donation to charity from their client. TV channels to beam Devon to global audience

In just three weeks time a TV global audience of millions will tune in to see Devon at its best when the Tour of Britain returns to the county.

In what will be a worldwide showcase for the county on September 9, viewers will be able to watch three hours of live coverage of the Devon Stage of the Tour of Britain.

This year both ITV4 and the BIKE Channel UK will show the race live, while ITV4 will also air a one-hour highlights programme each day.

Superb strikes from Ryan Harley and Jake Taylor gave Exeter City their first points of the season as they beat Accrington Stanley 2-1 at the Wham Stadium.

Rugby clubs unite to remember fallen heroes

Fallen heroes from the Devon and Ulster Regiments, which served at the Battle of the Somme, are to be remembered ahead of tomorrow’s pre-season rugby friendly between Exeter Chiefs and Ulster Rugby.

A new exhibition is being set up for the day at Sandy Park Stadium, the home of the Chiefs, to remember 3,237 Allied servicemen from the Devon and Ulster regiments who paid the ultimate sacrifice on the first day of battle on July 1, 1916.

Exeter School alumna Sara Orchard reports on Olympics

For those of you enjoying watching the Olympics you may have seen Exeter School alumna Sara Orchard commentating. The school looks forward to welcoming Sara back to school for Speech Day in September.

Sara joined the Sixth Form in 1998 where she studied Economics, English and Theatre Studies before leaving in 2000 to read Sports Science at Sheffield Hallam University. At school she helped form the girls' rugby team and developed this interest further at university and is a qualified rugby referee and coach.
