Ladies Do Lunch enjoyed an early Christmas lunch at Exeter Cookery School on the Quayside, where they picked up a whole range of seasonal hints and tips from chef/director Jim Fisher (pictured middle of back row).

He demonstrated several recipes including creating a selection of seasonal canapés which were much enjoyed with a glass of champagne.

Then the ladies enjoyed a roast turkey lunch followed by caramelized oranges Jim had prepared earlier, served with his Christmas pudding ice cream.

Local carol singers fundraising will help bring practical gifts to communities across the world this Christmas. On Tuesday 13 December, a group of carollers and musicians from Blessed Sacrament in Exeter put on a wonderful performance in their local Tesco.

The group of singers were accompanied by a flautist, guitarist and violinist, and returned to the store after performing for Christmas shoppers last year. The Post Office is reassuring customers in the Exeter area that despite the Communication Union’s call for strike action on Monday 19 December, Tuesday 20 December and Saturday 24 December at three Post Office branches, services will not be impacted at other branches in the area. The Post Office said it is soon to say if services will be affected at the three branches where strike action has been called but other Post Offices in the areas will be open for business as usual as they are not involved in the industrial action. The University of Exeter’s a cappella band Semi-Toned is topping their win of a nationwide singing competition by releasing a festive medley.

The all-male group, which recently won the BBC2 primetime show The Choir: Gareth’s Best in Britain, is today releasing their charity single A Very Semi-Toned Christmas. It features some of the best known and loved hits of the Christmas season, including classics by Bing Crosby, Mariah Carey, Wham! And Elvis Presley.
