Handel’s rarely performed masterpiece Solomon comes to Exeter Cathedral

Exeter Philharmonic Choir’s Lord Mayor’s concert this spring is a not-to-be-missed musical event, and a first for EPC. On Saturday 14 March 2026 the choir and four soloists will sing Handel's majestic oratorio Solomon , a work not known to have been performed in Exeter Cathedral since its composition in 1748.

High drama, rich orchestration and some of Handel’s most exquisite choral writing combine in this rarely performed masterpiece, including the sparkling ‘Arrival of the Queen of Sheba’.

Young people aged 13 to 24 who will spend Christmas in an Exeter hospital are set to receive a bundle of festive gifts this year, thanks to a nationwide campaign from Project Youth Cancer.

Patients at Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital are among hundreds of teenage and young adult cancer patients across 45 hospitals in the UK and Ireland who will wake up on Christmas morning to gift bags filled with vouchers, selection boxes, sweet treats, and festive surprises.

Exeter College has secured £1.3m in funding to create a new, world-class healthcare training facility, opening up opportunities for hundreds of learners to develop vital skills in nursing and healthcare professions.

An online film festival showcasing movies and documentaries that comment upon creative life in Devon and Cornwall opens today (Monday 1 December).

DxC will feature works past and present from regional directors, with the theme of Southwest Crossings: Journeys Through Time.

The films are all being screened free of charge on YouTube, courtesy of eXeFilm, the University of Exeter’s film distribution label.
