Woman airlifted to hospital

A woman has been airlifted to hospital after being involved in a car accident which involved her needing to be cut from her vehicle.

The incident, which took place at Pinhoe Road at just after 2pm yesterday (Sunday), saw the woman's car collide with another car and van.

One fire appliance from Middlemoor Exeter and one fire appliance from Danes Castle Exeter attended.

On arrival they found the female trapped in her vehicle.

She was released using  hydraulic cutting gear.

Once safely released the female was conveyed to hospital by Air Ambulance.

Two other casualties were also taken to hospital. 

The incident resulted in road closuresbut they were eventually re-opened.
