175 residents and families come together for summer fete at Exeter retirement village
Millbrook Retirement Village in Exeter welcomed around 175 residents, relatives and staff for a summer fete on Friday 14 August, bringing generations together for an afternoon of live music, local stalls, food and activities.
The Inspired Villages community welcomed residents’ children and grandchildren to join the celebrations, alongside local organisations and businesses from across the area.
Among those attending were the RNLI and Exeter homelessness charity St Petrock’s, which residents have chosen as Millbrook’s charity of the year. Local businesses also supported the event, with stalls selling products including chocolate and honey.
Guests enjoyed pizza, pulled pork, salads and ice cream, while local band Dilly Boys provided live music throughout the afternoon.
A raffle featuring prizes donated by the village raised approximately £600, adding a fundraising element to the day.
St Petrock’s has been supporting people experiencing homelessness in Exeter and the surrounding area for more than 30 years, providing practical support and services to some of the city’s most vulnerable people.
Gavin Hogg, Village Manager at Millbrook, said: “It was fantastic to see so many residents spending the afternoon with their children, grandchildren and wider families.
“These events are a great opportunity to bring different generations together, and there was a brilliant atmosphere across the village throughout the day.
“We were also really pleased to welcome local organisations and businesses, including St Petrock’s and the RNLI, and to raise around £600 through the raffle. A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day such a success.”
Each year, Millbrook residents nominate charities they would like the village to support, before voting for their chosen charity of the year. St Petrock’s was selected by residents for 2026.
