Weightlifting Event at… a church?

There are some things you wouldn’t naturally expect to see in a church… and weightlifting is one of them!

But that’s what’s happening at Rediscover Church in Northernhay Street, Exeter, as they host a special Weightlifting and Live Music Event, which everyone of all ages is being invited to.

The weightlifters, who are from the charity Tough Talk, will be perform live powerlifting demonstrations on Wednesday 28th September, 7.30pm, and there will be even a chance for audience members to take part in an interactive competition!

The individuals are made up of East End Hard Men, Bouncers, Body Builders, Drug Dealers & Debt Collectors with stories about how their Christian faith has changed their life.

Travelling throughout the UK, Europe and worldwide, this group of men have an incredible story to tell, of lives which have been turned upside down. They perform their demonstrations at churches, festivals, schools, and even in prisons.

As part of the entertaining and inspiring evening, there will also be an interview with Exeter Chiefs player Ruben van Heerden, who will share about his life and journey so far, passion for sport and what his faith means to him.

The evening is being organsied as part of the church’s Alpha Course, which launches soon and invites people of all ages to come and explore the big questions of life, such as what is the purpose of life, is Jesus real and does prayer really work.

The church is throwing open their doors to their upcoming Weightlifting Event and encouraging people to re-consider their perceptions of church and faith.

This is going to be such an entertaining and inspiring night for all ages, hearing stories of real life changed.
