Officers are becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of a missing Weymouth woman and are asking for the public’s help in finding her.

Anita Hansford, 55, was last seen at 8.30am on Saturday 30 May 2015 at her home in the Sutton Poyntz area of the town.

It is believed that Anita (pictured) was in the Weymouth or Dorchester area at around 11am on Saturday morning and may have travelled to Exeter arriving by 6.30pm. Her whereabouts at this time are unknown.

Anita is described as white, five feet six inches tall, of medium build with shoulder-length hair dyed blonde and greying at the roots. She has a raised mole on the inside of her right eye next to her nose. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a pale blue turquoise T-shirt with a motif and white trainers.

Officers have been searching the Weymouth area today, Sunday 31 May 2015, assisted by the NPAS helicopter.

Dorset Police's Force Incident Commander Tracey Baker said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for Anita. Her disappearance is out of character.

“It is important that we find Anita and I urgently want to hear from anyone who may have seen her or a woman matching her description in Sutton Poyntz early on Saturday morning or in Weymouth or Dorchester at around 11am that same day.

“While we believe Anita may have travelled to Exeter later on Saturday, we are keeping an open mind as to her whereabouts and searches have been taking place in the Weymouth area today.

“If Anita sees this appeal I would urge her to make contact with Dorset Police immediately to let us know she is safe. Your family wants you home.”

Anyone with information about Anita's whereabouts is asked to call Dorset Police on 101 quoting log 405 of 30 May.
