Trust nurse wins UK medal for Excellence
A nurse from Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust has won a Medal for Excellence, awarded for her professionalism and support for learners over the past 18 years.
Around 100 medals are given out annually in the UK and abroad, to recognise success amongst City and Guilds learners and tutors.
As a lecturer specialising in nursing, Tracey Gillard has helped almost 1,000 students achieve their NVQ/QCF award. Tracey has also supported seven health care assistants in achieving their own Medal for Excellence.
Dr Alison Diamond, chief executive of the Trust, said: "We are delighted for Tracey. Her natural enthusiasm and ability to motivate students has always been apparent and her level of commitment is an inspiration to others on a daily basis.”
“We know that when students are taught well, they feel more confident about learning. This improves patient care because we have great staff who are not afraid to ask questions and who want to continue to learn and improve.”
As a Medal for Excellence winner, Tracey is now eligible to take part in the People’s Choice award – the only award at this year’s Lion Awards which is voted for by colleagues, friends and family.
Tracey is up against all of the other Medal for Excellence winners for this year. If you would like to vote for Tracey, please click on the following link:
