Hobbycraft, the UK’s largest arts and crafts retailer, celebrated the opening of its new store at Rydon Retail Park, Exeter on Saturday with a host of crafting activities, product offers and goody bags for the first 100 customers who walked through the doors.

The store officially opened on Wednesday 1st September, whilst the grand store opening event took place on Saturday 4th September at 9.00am, attended by the Mayor of Exeter, Councillor Trish Oliver.

The new Hobbycraft colleagues were on hand to provide their expertise and encourage locals to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. The store opening created 19 new jobs in the local area for crafting experts, with some of the team including:

  • Karen Cornelious – Sewing Expert
  • Karen Barker – Crochet Expert
  • Kathy Lavis – Baking Expert
  • Joanna Collins – Papercraft Expert
  • Briony Dillion – Felting Expert

The space is designed to inspire shoppers as well as encourage them to try out products and crafting techniques, and customers got their first chance to try out the new innovative area on the weekend.

Store Manager, Tina Hippsley comments: “Our new store is packed with crafting materials to suit all ages and abilities, and beginners through to experienced crafters are all welcome to pop into the store and chat to our creative colleagues.
