Exeter Deaf Academy is delighted to partner with local Devon based Sportiva Events, to support the new Adult and Junior Triathlon events coming to Exmouth on Sunday 20 May.

The event is open to all from 8 years upwards, starting from Exmouth Rugby Club. The adult races include a sprint tri and beginners’ event with a variety of traffic free distances available for junior entrants. The focus is on having a go and having some fun - all you need is a swimming costume, a road worthy bike, a helmet and pair of trainers to take part. Swimming will take place inside at LED, and whether you choose front crawl or breaststroke, all in one go or stop after every length, it’s up to you!

Exeter Deaf Academy is the official charity partner for the event, and the money raised will go towards the Academy’s New Build – a multi-million pound project to build a world-class new Deaf Academy in Exmouth. The site will house the Academy’s school, college and residential accommodation, with the Academy creating a vibrant space designed to inspire students and connect them with the wider community. The new Academy is due to open in the 2019/20 academic year.

To take part for Exeter Deaf Academy and help support young Deaf lives please secure your own place in the event, and then contact us to sign up to the Academy Tri-Stars team and raise as much as you can. Or why not take part for free? Simply get in touch and pledge to raise a minimum £100 sponsorship (£50 for junior entrants). Sarah Shaw, Fundraising Appeal Manager for Exeter Deaf Academy says: “It is great to be able to partner with Sportiva Events and help bring both the new triathlon and new Deaf Academy to the thriving town of Exmouth. By taking part in this event you really will make a difference to our inspiring Deaf students. We have a small, friendly team here at the Academy who have lots of fundraising ideas and advice and will support you all the way…”

Ben Tisdall from Sportive Events says: “We’re delighted to team up with the Exeter Deaf Academy. There’s been an overwhelmingly positive response from local people and businesses to bringing a triathlon to Exmouth. And helping to raise some funds for the Deaf Academy’s new home in Exmouth fits in perfectly as it’s such a really worthwhile project.”
