This spring, Stagecoach South West is reintroducing a late-night bus service for Torbay residents.

The N12 will operate every 30 minutes, between Newton Abbot, Torquay, Paignton and Brixham, from the late evening of Friday and Saturday nights until around 0430 the following day.

The service will launch on the evening of Good Friday, 19th April, just as the busy Easter holidays begin, and is expected to be popular with both local residents and visitors, wishing to leave the car at home and enjoy a night out in the Torbay area.

The number 12 route benefited from a £4.5 million investment at the end of 2017 when Stagecoach invested in 22 brand new double deck vehicles for the route. These modern and comfortable vehicles, which are easily recognisable with their eye-catching red livery, feature USB charging ports which enable passengers to charge their mobile phones as they return home from a night out and use the onboard free complimentary wifi.

What’s more, as Stagecoach now accepts contactless payments, club-goers and late-night passengers no longer have to worry about carrying cash as all fares can be paid on their cards.

The return of this popular late night service after many years will also provide a means of convenient and affordable travel for shift workers and the staff and employees, of Torbay’s many clubs and bars.

The N12 service will continue throughout the year until the start of the Christmas period. Paul Clark, Operations Director at Stagecoach South West, says:

“We are delighted to be introducing a frequent late night bus service, linking Newton Abbot, Torquay, Paignton and Brixham until the early hours. We hope this value for money service will help bring more people out to enjoy the various bars and restaurants that Torbay has to offer. We also hope that using our modern fleet of double deck buses, on the route, will help change people`s perception of bus travel as a real alternative to other modes.”

Customers, using the N12, also have the option of purchasing a Niterider ticket for just £3 and enjoying unlimited bus travel* from 7pm until end of service. Alternatively those, heading out with friends on a night out, may decide that a Group Dayrider provides better value for money, as up to 5 people can travel together on the one ticket for as little as £10

*Niterider is not valid for travel on the South West Falcon.
