An Exeter Daily reader did a double take when looking at pictures he had taken of last night's 'supermoon'!

For as he blew up the image taken on an iPhone, he spotted a grumpy face glaring down at the world.

David Jenkins, who lives in Spreyton, said the optical illusion initially spooked him.

"I was expanding the pictures to get a better look and I spotted what appeared to be a nose, eyes, mouth and head of hair," he said,

"It looked quite surreal, as if someone up there was scowling down at us."

The Moon turned red in the early hours of this morning.

The event is caused by a total lunar eclipse coinciding with another astronomical event called a supermoon.

It's the second total lunar eclipse this year, but the first since 2008 where the whole eclipse will be visible from the UK.

But there won't be another 'supermoon' for another 30 years.
