Police appeal for witnesses following serious collision in Exeter

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious collision between a car and cyclist in Exeter on Sunday 28 July.

The collision happened at around 7.40pm on Topsham Road, at the junction with Higher Wear Road.

Police believe the silver Ford Fiesta was travelling along Topsham Road from Topsham, heading towards Countess Wear, when the cyclist emerged from the nearside before being struck by the car.

The 30-year-old male cyclist was taken to the RD&E hospital with extensive injuries including a head injury. He has since been transferred to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

The 18-year-old male driver of the Fiesta, from Exeter, is not believed to have been injured.

The road was shut for eight hours while police investigators were at the scene.
