British Transport Police (BTP) officers are appealing for the public’s help to identify two men they would like to speak to in connection with the theft of a passenger’s property from a train.

Officers believe the men in this photograph will have information which can assist the investigation into the incident which took place on a northbound CrossCountry service on Thursday, 31 July 2014.

PC Dave Eveleigh, investigating officer, said: “The victim boarded a CrossCountry service at Newton Abbot about 2pm to travel north to Sheffield.

“She placed her bag in the luggage racks in coach D of the train but realised it was missing when she arrived at her destination."

Enquiries have been ongoing since the theft to establish who took the bag from the train but to no avail.

PC Eveleigh added: “I am now in a position to release, for the first time, a CCTV image of two men I would like to speak to. They travelled on board the same train as the victim and alighted at Exeter St Davids station.

“I am appealing for anyone who recognises the men in the photograph to come forward as I believe they will both have information which can assist the investigation.”

Do you know these men? Can you help?
