Exeter City FC first team players Matt Jay and Pierce Sweeney take time out of their training schedule to help promote the CITY Community Trust Santa Run

One more day to book for city centre Santa Run

Are you ready for the great Exeter city centre Santa takeover?

There’s still time to sign up for the fantastically festive Santa Run which will see more than 750 people - from grandparents to babies in buggies – dashing down Exeter High Street. But hurry up and enter – entries close tomorrow <NOV 20>.

The event, which is organised by CITY Community Trust, takes place at 9am on Sunday, December 1. Runners can choose from a 2.5k family fun run or a 5k distance – Santa suits are compulsory and are included in the entry fee.

Pete Ferlie, health and wellbeing officer for CITY Community Trust, said: ‘This is an amazing event, and a great way to mark the start of the festive season. Places are going very fast, so we recommend people book as soon as possible.

‘This year we have a family ticket available to make the event as affordable as possible and as we are always looking for ways to reduce our impact on the environment, we also have an option for people to re-use Santa suits from last year and we’ll donate the cost of the suit to our charity partners.’

Runners can choose to raise funds for charities of their choice, CITY Community Trust, or the organisation’s Santa Run partner charities; Children’s Hospice South West, Age UK Exeter, Force Cancer Charity or Exeter Leukaemia Fund.

Pete added: ‘We’re very grateful to our headline sponsors Tozers Law, event partners Exeter Live Better and Ola and to the support we’ve received from InExeter and Devon Highways. Thanks to this support we are able to keep prices low for our participants, ensuring the event is as inclusive as possible which is one of the key aims of our charity.’

CITY Community Trust is Exeter’s leading health and wellbeing charity and works in partnership with Exeter City Football Club providing a range of activities to people of all ages, focused on health, education, wellbeing and physical activity. As well as the Santa Run it organises several other running events through the year, including half marathons and the Exeter Marathon.

The deadline to enter the event is Wednesday November 20. To book your tickets visit https://www.exetercitycommunitytrust.co.uk/courses/running-events/santa-run-2019
