Exeter is a terrific place to be at any time of year. Whether you live here or just visit regularly, there is so much to do that making it a year to remember in Exeter can be done in whatever way best suits you.

How will you get to see everything that interests you in this great city? By looking ahead to the rest of the year, you can ensure that you don’t miss out on any of the treats to be found in this part of Devon.

Look Out for the Great Summer Events

Summer is a very special time of year in Exeter. Warm weather and easy access to the coast make it easy to see why so many holiday-makers flock here during the summer months.

Thankfully, there are tons of interesting events here for residents and visitors alike. Music fans can enjoy the annual Let’s Rock Exeter festival at Powderham Castle, while Exeter Cathedral is often home to atmospheric orchestra concerts.

Garden festivals, gastronomic events and sporting action all help to make this an action-packed time of year by the River Exe. The warm summer evenings also make this the ideal opportunity to explore the area on foot by joining a free guided tour or just heading out on your own for a stroll.

Make Winter Extra Special, Too

Winter sees a drop in the number of tourists who come here. Yet, it is still an enchanting time of year in which Exeter has a lot to offer to anyone looking to finish off a memorable year in style.

Perhaps the most exciting event in winter is the traditional Exeter Christmas Market. Typically held on Cathedral Green from mid-November until just before Christmas, this market is filled with carol singers, local bands and an interesting range of food to try.

The colder weather means that winter is a fine time to head indoors to explore the Cathedral, to take in an opera or else to check out the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery. There is also a Winter Fair in the Cathedral, with dozens of stalls selling crafts and gifts.

Plan Ahead to Avoid Missing Out

As we have seen, Exeter has a lot going on throughout the year. You don’t want to risk missing out on any of the big seasonal events by being unaware of them or unprepared for them. Stay up to date with the most memorable events by planning ahead and noting down the dates that you are interested in on a calendar.

For the absent-minded, some calendar and diary-makers will even add all your important dates to a personalised calendar for you, saving you (or a loved one) the trouble. In this way, you will be ready for all of the great spectacles that Exeter has to offer. Be sure to note the sale dates for tickets too, as not all events will offer entry on the door.

Don’t let this year slip by without making the most of Exeter. Find out what you are most excited about doing and plan ahead so that you get to enjoy it without any fuss.
